  1. I think that this is a great idea. 1% is a small sum, however it would do wonders to support the arts. In turn, the city would be more inviting to tourists who might actually spend more time and money here. It could make the investment into the arts worth while for all businesses her. I also think it should go to every part of the city. Not just where the politicians in office are located.

  2. Great work, Ty! However, some clarification: The Public Arts Commission is part of City government, established by ordinance (Commission members are appointed, some by the mayor & some by the Common Council, & the staff person is a City employee). But neither the Public Arts Task Force nor the Public Artist in Residence are City government entities. The PATF is a creature of 40 Below, & the SPAR position (Brendan) comes out of Syracuse University/Connective Corridor. The SPAR has an advisory committee consisting of the PAC staff person (Kate Auwaerter) & one PAC member (me), along with folks from the Downtown Committee (Merike), the Connective Corridor (Maarten & now Linda Hartsock since Robbi has left), & Stasnya & Dominic, whose official bases may be the Northside Collaboratory but I think have morphed recently. So there is some overlap, to be sure, but also some distinctions.
